Gentoo Linux 2006.0

Today I had a chance to install new OS in a computer from a friend. This time, I chose to install Gentoo Linux. This Gentoo version contains a command line installer which is similar to Ubuntu and a GUI installer. Without installation, users can use the gnome desktop environment by default. Before I installed gentoo 2005.1, but I did not really success yet. This time I thought it would be easier to install. However, when I did GUI installer, I got failed for three or four times. I must miss something but I could not figure out. After checking installation handbook, I realize that the stage3 is not contained in x86 LiveCD. Fine, I downloaded stage3 from gentoo mirror site, and installed and extracted into desktop. Reinstalling again, but I still got error messages. Thus, I decided to use command line installer. This time it worked. Right now, it is still installing packages. Don't know how long it will take to complete installation because it has been installing since about 2PM this afternoon. Wow....maybe I checked too many packages and it did take time to emerging from the internet and compiling it while installing gentoo. Sigh... Anyway...If I want to install it again, I will not check so many packages at a time. I will install them after the basic environment is installed.
